ETHGlobal Singapore was action packed and full of amazing builders, resulting in 310 projects being created. For the Dynamic team, it was reassuring to see such a wide range of practical and cool apps be built, and we also were blown away by the amount of teams building with Dynamic.
Out of the 310 projects, 80 teams implemented Dynamic for this hackathon! We’re grateful to play such a role in the event and really excited to support these projects as they continue to grow.
In addition to a great time, the event was an opportunity to see what developers are currently excited about. Here are a few of the standout trends we saw from the hackathon:
It wouldn’t be a hackathon without a little friendly competition, right? Among the amazing projects built with Dynamic, we awarded five with bounties in various categories. We’ll cover each of them below—keep an eye on them for the future!
Telegram mini apps have exploded in popularity recently, making Telegram more than just your go-to group chat for memes. This prize was awarded to Silent Wars, who built our favorite mini app (which is saying a lot).
Silent Wars is a fully onchain strategy game where three factions compete against each other to collect resources, build strategic plans, and choose their gameplay style. These decisions are conducted through onchain governance, which is backed by a World ID for fair voting. Essentially, the goal is for players to collectively vote as a faction, and secure what’s best for the future of that faction.
This prize went to the team that went all-in on UI, crafting a creative and unique experience for end-users. NounsPilot created an engaging experience inspired by Nouns DAO that is also simple to use and packed with powerful integrations.
NounsPilot utilizes cross-chain protocols, restaking services, and high-yield opportunities to offer users returns on their digital assets. After analyzing a portfolio, the protocol makes recommendations based on opportunities that it sees across the DeFi sector. NounsPilot is able to cover so much ground because of their strong integrations. NounsPilot integrates 1inch APIs for accurate balance and token data, Circle for USDC transactions, and LayerZero for cross-chain token bridging
This one’s for the game that was so fun, it made us forget we were at a hackathon. And honestly, who could blame us? We all remember how addictive Flappy Bird was. If you miss those days, then look no further than BlockBird.
BlockBird brings back the classic Flappy Bird experience but with a twist: it uses blockchain rails. In addition to using Dynamic for onboarding, BlockBird utilizes Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function) to ensure fair and unpredictable game mechanics, and The Graph to efficiently index and query the game’s data and provide real-time updates on leaderboards and player statistics. Lastly, the game is deployed on Arbitrum Sepolia for cheap transactions.
Consumer apps are crucial for the growth of crypto adoption, and it was promising to see that the hackathon was full of them. SQUIDL set itself apart with its commitment to privacy, while offering an app that appeals to those beyond just the Web3 community.
SQUIDL was built to give individuals and businesses total control over their payments and financial transactions, while ensuring that transactions are private and untraceable. To accomplish this SQUIDL uses stealth addresses, custom payment likes which double as ENS names, and the ability for credit card payments to convert to USDC. They also add an extra layer of privacy by bridging to the Oasis Sapphire network, and support the transfer of NFTs and liquidity tokens.
Nifi won this award by bringing a really unique idea to life. Nifi is the first Web3-based captive portal for secure WiFi access, verifying users based on their crypto tokens or NFTs instead. Since traditional WiFi networks lack the ability to verify blockchain-based assets such as tokens, Nifi brings a unique offering to the table.
In short, Nifi checks if wallets hold specific digital assets and grants WiFi access accordingly. Nifi is able to verify ERC20, ERC721, and ERC1155 tokens, and relies on a pre-authentication flow and forward authentication services (FAS) to grant or deny network access. And by leveraging blockchain technology and Dynamic, Nifi ensures that access is decentralized and secure.
